Class Visits Classes normally visit the library each week to browse and exchange books for borrowing. At other times older children may visit to do some research during class time.
Morning tea & lunchtime The library is open at morning tea time and from 12.45pm at lunchtime.
Student librarians are rostered to assist with library duties and reading to the younger children at the lunch break.
Borrowing from the Library Children may borrow most books for up to 2 weeks. If you need a book longer than 2weeks, it can be renewed (as long as no one else has reserved the book).
Two books may be borrowed at a time.
Reserves You can reserve a book if it is currently issued to another person, or if it is on display. Ask the librarians for help to reserve a book. When the book becomes available, it will be held for you on the front desk. A note will be sent to your class and you are expected to collect the book within 2 days of receiving the note. Failure to do so, will result in the book being passed onto the next person waiting for it, or reshelved (if no reserves waiting).
Overdue books Sue will send a list of names with overdue books to your teacher. You will not be able to issue any more books until all overdue books have been returned. Reminder notices will be sent for 4 weeks. An invoice will be sent home to your parents, for any books that are not returned at the end of each term. When the books have been returned or the invoice paid, you will be able to borrow from the Library again.
New books are purchased all year and released gradually into the library.. They will be regularly promoted during the year. If you have a book or series suggestion, please tell Sue. We want to provide books that you will enjoy!
